Business Development Workshop and a Merlot Cultivar Camp, Simulcast

March 20 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

In an effort to provide resources for Colorado’s wine and grape industry, the CWIDB is hosting a series of business development workshops based on the topics identified by the industry in the survey many of you responded to earlier this year.  Each workshop will be followed by a “Cultivar Camp” in the afternoon, a program funded in part by the CDA and USDA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, to offer wine makers and grape growers a chance to learn the history and characteristics of a particular grape variety or style of wine, and then to taste some of the international benchmarks that define the style and expectation of that variety.  The Merlot Cultivar Camp will be led by Sally Mohr, Master Sommerlier, on one side of the state and by Max Ariza, sommelier and hospitality faculty for Johnson & Wales Denver, on the other.

Monday, March 20, 2017 will be the first in a series of at least 4 seminars and Cultivar Camps throughout 2017.  This first business development workshop will focus on the understanding and preparation of financial statements for your business, with an eye on getting loans or outside investments as well as tax preparation using a financial statement.  Ryan Sanger and Bill Jones with Anton, Collins, Mitchell, LLP, with the Boulder Small Business Development Center, will lead this seminar.

We will also experiment with simulcasting the presentation between the Front Range and the Western Slope, the Colorado Department of Ag, 305 Interlocken Parkway, Broomfield, CO 80021 and Western Colorado Community College, 2508 Blichman Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81505, to allow participants on both sides of the state to attend live and to ask questions of the presenters and panel members.  We will conduct the wine tasting in both locations as well.

Lunch will be available between the morning business development workshop and the Cultivar Camp in the afternoon, though you will be able to register for each session independently.  The morning and afternoon session are $25 each, and lunch is $20.  Click here for additional information and to register.
